Contemporary Western Art
I was born into a family of engineers and mathematicians, and I have always balanced the technical with the expressive in my creative work. My professional background as an architect lends a unique foundation to my process, where structure and imagination come together. By incorporating a variety of materials into my paintings, I strive to capture both the natural electricity and the comforting warmth of the American West. From sweeping landscapes to wild horses and blazing sunsets, my goal is to create mixed-media artwork that transports the viewer to a destination while offering a multi-sensory experience. I continue to explore oils and ceramics, often integrating wood, metal, clay, and sand into my work. I paint energetically from my spacious and sunny studio in Golden, Colorado, and my work is available throughout the Southwest.
Each painting I create tells a story. Horses, with their strength, structure, and connection to the West, provide both striking abstract imagery and timeless symbolism. Living in Golden, Colorado, I am surrounded by inspiration. My backyard opens to North and South Table Mesa and the foothills of the Rockies, landscapes that often shape my work. The view along Highway 93 toward Boulder, with its ranches, horses, and wildlife, offers a continual reminder of the beauty I seek to capture. The vivid colors of sunrises and sunsets remain in my memory, later emerging on canvas. My work is not only about what I see but about the impression of a place: the light, the wind, the sky, and the atmosphere that deepen its presence. I strive to capture that sense of place and the drama that extends beyond the visible.
